Anita Saarkessian
Anita Sarkeesian is a Canadian-American feminist media critic and public speechwriter. Feminist Frequency was created by Sarkeesian. It hosts video clips which include commentary on the depictions of women in the media and popular culture of today. Anita Sarkeesian was a Canadian as well as an American feminist media critique. Feminist Frequency investigates how women are represented in the pop culture. She's determined to dismantle stereotypes about women and how they are depicted in pop culture. Additionally she has a mission to increase the awareness of harassment on social media targeted at women and marginalized groups of people. Sarkeesian who has the degree of Master's in Social and Political Thinking in the field of social and political thought from York University, is a popular public speakers. She has delivered speeches at the TEDxWomen festival as well as United Nations Broadband Working Group to Gender. Feminist Frequency was launched on the 9th of September 2009 by Sarkeesian, an undergraduate student at York University who had been interested in issues that concern gender and feminism for quite a long time. It was a girl with a dream to develop the series of videos on the internet that would examine gender representations in video games. However, she became the target of cyber-bullying. It was not enough to stop her. In fact, it increased her importance to being a feminist and a media critique. She has won numerous awards for her contribution to the cause of feminism. Anita Sarkeesian won awards for her efforts as a critique of the media, and she founded Feminist Frequency. Feminist Frequency is a non-profit organization that investigates women's representation in contemporary pop culture.
